I spent my easter at a friend's villa far away in Abia State. Helping out with preparations for her sister's wedding and to add spice to the occasion, the father of the bride bought a cow.
This morning, the cow had to be killed in preparation of tomorrow's event. And probably because I stay in the West, I had no idea there had to be "rituals" involved before the cow is killed. Now don't get me wrong, when I said "rituals" I don't mean the diabolical kind. I mean the Father of the house being the first to stab the cow. I witnessed how scared the cow was to die, immediately he realized the end was near, he quickly urinated on himself, and defecated shortly.. I honestly was at the verge of tears and couldn't help but wonder the way people die. Are they scared to die too? Do they immediately defecate like the Cow today? Is it painless? Or painful like the cow's death today?
